Honda Genuine Racing’s Justin Brayton and DPH Motorsport’s Hayden Mellross have captured victories in their respective categories at round three of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship in Adelaide, South Australia.

Brayton topped the charts in qualifying, although the American uncharacteristically made multiple mistakes in is heat race to finish in sixth. Brayton was able to regroup prior to the main event, in which he claimed the holeshot and rode flawlessly to the chequered flag to be awarded his third consecutive Australian supercross victory.

Defending champion Dan Reardon (CDR Yamaha) completed the 20-lap main event in a comfortable second, returning to form after a less than stellar night at round two. He was followed by KTM Motocross Racing Team stand-in Kyle Peters, who navigated his way into third, crediting him his first SX1 podium while in Australia.

The top five was rounded out by fellow American Wil Hahn (National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki) and multiple Australian supercross and motocross champion Jay Marmont (Husqvarna), which marked his second top five placing in as many rounds.

Penrite Honda’s Gavin Faith settled into second immediately, however he was unable to match the pace of the current series leader.Hayden Mellross extended his advantage in the SX2 category to 10 points following a commanding performance in South Australia. The New South Welshman completed a perfect night by recording the fastest lap in qualifying and claiming a hard-fought heat race win prior to his main event victory.
